Show opening: Thursday Sept. 26, 5-7pm

Blue Sage Center

Picture Paonia is a biannual competition/exhibition in conjunction with Paonia’s Mountain Harvest Festival, September 26 thru the 29th. Participating photographers will have one day (24 hours) to capture an image that focuses on Paonia’s story and history. A “People’s Choice” award will be given by gallery visitors and our judges will select first, second and third place images.

Winners will share in prizes totaling $600, generously donated by the Kampe Foundation. The event this year will be an adjunct event to the Smithsonian Exhibit that will happen in Paonia in January/February 2021. The Smithsonian Exhibit Crossroads: Change in Rural America is a Museum on Main Street exhibition from the Smithsonian traveling to 30 states through 2024. Several works from the Picture Paonia will be selected to participate in the Smithsonian exhibit as part of the local exhibit.

The Smithsonian exhibit is being brought to Paonia by the North Fork Valley Creative Coalition in partnership with the Blue Sage Center for the Arts and the North Fork Historical Society. Paonia Photographers are invited to enter one piece into the competition.
